Noy Finer

Fragments of Home

Statement:

“Fragments of Home” is a solo photography exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Noy Finer.

This 15-piece exhibition explores the growth involved in adapting to a new space while preserving one’s sense of self. It is Finer’s personal study on place, memory, and the organic patterns through which we sustain identity in a new environment.

Noy Finer’s “Fragments of Home” portrays a personal study on the turbulence of uprooting from all you've ever known. Is there a way to hold onto the roots of home as you stretch toward a new beginning, or is losing your grasp part of the process? With blurred subjects quickly passing by and hands transfiguring into tree bark, Finer captures the disorienting challenge of redefining oneself in a brand-new context. Limited-edition scanograms, collages, and handmade prints document fleeting memories of this shared journey with her partner, suggesting we can take only pieces of the past with us.
